2. The Careful Commenter — Subtle signals, surprising impact
This is the second lesson of a five-part tutorial: The Visibility Spectrum: From Lurker to Luminary.
Once you’ve broken the silence, the next move on the Visibility Spectrum is deceptively simple — yet profoundly strategic: thoughtful commenting.
It’s not about being prolific. It’s about being intentional.
A well-crafted comment is more than a digital pat on the back — it’s a micro-expression of your leadership voice. It sends three signals of value:
- To the author — You’ve truly read their post and responded with substance.
- To the audience — You’ve expanded the conversation, showing insight and relevance.
- To yourself — You’re reinforcing your own thought leadership and building visibility through contribution.
When done well, your comment reflects your thinking, your tone, and your discernment. It’s a handshake with your mind.
One more executive move? Tag the author in your comment — using the @ symbol followed immediately by their name (no space in between). This triggers a LinkedIn notification, ensuring they see your thoughtful contribution, and increases the likelihood they’ll respond, which in turn amplifies your reach.
And here's the hidden gem: over time, your name becomes associated with relevance, clarity, and generosity of thought. People begin to notice.
👉 This week’s #littlelinkedinlesson micro-action:
🖋 Choose a post that resonates with you. Leave a comment that adds insight or context. End by tagging the author to ensure they see it.
Do this three times this week. Track any responses you receive, and notice how it feels to show up with intention.
Next up: The Purposeful Poster — where your leadership voice begins to lead.
💬 Afterword
One well-placed comment can shift how people perceive you — from observer to contributor, from connection to colleague. It’s a quiet but powerful way to amplify your executive presence without ever pressing “post.”

Let’s make your brilliance impossible to ignore.
There’s a paradox I keep seeing: Brilliant, capable women — the kind who’ve climbed the ladder, launched companies, or led transformations — still wonder: Am I being seen for the leader I truly am?
As an executive branding strategist, I’ve helped hundreds of leaders elevate their visibility. But I couldn’t shake the question:𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆) 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲?
That question sparked a research study I’m now conducting:𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗻: 𝗔 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿-𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻
