1. Consistent Visibility: The Hidden Engine of Executive Influence

Consistent Visibility: The Hidden Engine of Executive Influence

You can be extraordinary at what you do — disciplined, strategic, deeply skilled — and still be overlooked simply because you’re invisible in the feed.

That’s the paradox of modern leadership: You’re not top of mind unless you stay in plain sight.

And on LinkedIn, staying in plain sight isn’t about posting every day with a bullhorn. It’s about showing up consistently enough that your presence registers — not as noise, but as credibility.

Why “Top of Mind and Tip of Tongue” Matters More Than Ever

I often meet with people in job transition on Zoom. At the end of a great conversation, I’ll think to myself:

“Remember Sally Smith if I hear of opportunities in the XYZ space.”

The intention is there. The goodwill is real.

But if I don’t see Sally again — not in my inbox, not in a follow-up note, and especially not in my LinkedIn feed — she quickly becomes one more good intention overshadowed by the next urgent thing on my plate.

By the time an opportunity does cross my desk, Sally isn’t top of mind… and she certainly isn’t tip of tongue.

She loses out — not for lack of talent, but for lack of visibility.

Contrast that with someone I’ve recently met and routinely see in my LinkedIn feed: I remember her. She’s present. She’s part of my mental map. Referring her becomes effortless — a natural extension of staying connected.

Visibility isn’t vanity. Visibility is access.

And leaders who understand this treat it as a strategic asset.

Visibility Isn’t Just Posting — It’s Being Seen Where It Matters

Here’s the second story:

You’re commenting on a colleague’s post, and someone else offers a thoughtful, high-caliber perspective. Suddenly you’re thinking:

“Who is this? I want to follow their work.”

This is one of the most powerful — and least discussed — pathways to connection on LinkedIn. Not through cold outreach. Not through sales messages. But through the quiet professionalism of consistent, high-value engagement.

This is how leaders discover each other. This is how reputations are formed. This is how you stay top of mind in rooms you’re not even in.

Make Visibility a Leadership Behavior, Not a To-Do List Item

Strategic visibility isn’t about adding more to your day. It’s about shifting how you think about showing up.

Because staying visible means staying referable.

And referability is currency.
